Waiting on Wednesday: Just One Day

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine, and specifically spotlights upcoming novels we can’t wait to read. As always, there are some amazing upcoming books, but this week I’m particularly excited for…

A new Gayle Forman novel?!?!?!?!?!?! How can words even begin to describe how exciting this is? I love, love, loved “If I Stay” and “Where She Went.” Both books were amazingly poignant pictures of grief and love, and another romance from Forman is just what I’ve been craving.

Allyson “Lulu” Healey first meets Dutch actor Willem De Ruiter at an underground performance of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in England. The spark between them is immediate, and doesn’t go out even when Lulu wakes up after a day in Paris to discover Willem has left. Over the next year, Lulu struggles to free herself from the confines of her life with travel, Shakespeare, and the search for her true love.

A novel written from Willem’s perspective, Just One Year, will follow.

  1. I’m very excited as Gayle Foreman is one of my favorite YA novelists–her writing, although very simple in “If I Stay,” was made astounding by the subject, (the protagonist’s perspective), and the sequel was hauntingly elegant.
