Summary from Goodreads–The Lazarus Serum can bring you back from the dead. Only thing is, it turns you into a Pale. Jed can’t imagine anything worse, but then the choice is taken out of his hands…

Chris Wooding, I understand that you wanted to write a book for high school students who are at a lower reading level, but you really could have done more with this book. There are a lot of interesting ideas, and the overall theme of prejudice is super applicable to today’s world, but I don’t think you exploited that enough. Just because someone is at a lower reading level does not necessarily mean they couldn’t understand slightly more complex ideas than the ones you introduced in this book. You also lost your slightly-gritty-but-enthralling writing style, which was a big letdown. Though I found it disappointing, what I can say positively about it is that it would probably bring about much good discussion.
